February 25th, 2011: is no longer an actively updated source for Clarkson Hockey madness. It was a ton of fun serving the fans of Clarkson Hockey for the 100 or so years that it lasted. will now serve as an archive, forever documenting the rise of the Bonesaw from 2006 - 2009. The Bonesaw is still going strong for Clarkson Hockey, but unfortunately does not have the active staff necessary to keep it updated regularly. If you think that you can get involved somehow feel free to contact us. May the saw be with you.

Rough Road Trip

The Clarkson Men's Hockey team started its regular season this weekend in the state of Michigan, playing back-to-back games against the State College.

In Friday's match-up, Michigan State jumped out to a first period lead late in the period. However, Matt Beca would tie things up before heading into the locker room on a power play tally from the assist of Nick Tremblay. The second period would not favor the Knights, however. Michigan State tallied 3 straight notches on Paul Karpowich, en route to adding two more in the 3rd period for a 6-1 final. Although the Knights outshot the Spartans, the power play was the ultimate decider. Allowing 3 of 8 chances to sneak by, this is one aspect Clarkson must improve on later in the season.

In Saturday's game, the Green and Gold started off the rubber match early with a goal from Mark Borowiecki. Owning the lead for only 6 minutes, Michigan State slipped one past Karpowich's pads, again on the power play. Louke Oakley answered the tying goal with a mark of his own with about 5 minutes left in the period (PP). Again, the Knights seemed to falter in the 2nd period, giving up the lead and falling behind 3-2 entering the 3rd period. Matt Beca tied up the game with his 2nd goal of the weekend to give the Knights a chance of splitting the series. Unfortunately, the Spartans were able to score the go-ahead goal with 2:49 left in the 3rd period to send the Knights home down 0-2 on the year.

Although Clarkson falters to a rough start, they bounced back fairly nice from a big defeat on Friday night. Hopefully this resiliency will pay off next weekend when Cheel Arena is broken in for the first regular season home games of the 2009-2010 season. Playing Niagara University on Friday followed by RIT on Saturday, the Knights will look to make things right with a 2-2 record.

Remember, Friday nights game is a REGULAR scheduled game. Saturday, however, is Parent's Weekend. There will be NO student section for this game; students MUST buy tickets (whatever's left). Check the Cheel box office for tickets.

Look for the Bonesaw Brigade this weekend as well. We will be selling this year's brand new shirt, as well as bumper stickers and foamsaws. If you wish to purchase online, check the tab above. If not, we will be in Cheel prior to both games.
